02/19/2007 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Wisconsin and Ohio State, the Big Ten's best, are also the top two teams in the latest Associated Press men's college basketball poll.
After Florida lost to Vanderbilt on Saturday and had a 17-game winning streak stopped, the Gators dropped from a unanimous No. 1 to third in this week's poll. That allowed the Badgers and Buckeyes to move to the top of the rankings.
Wisconsin (26-2), which is No. 1 for the first time in school history, received 35 first-place votes and a total of 1,747 points from a nationwide media panel to edge Ohio State (24-3) for the top spot. The Buckeyes, who own an 11-game winning streak, earned 31 first-place votes and 1,728 total points.
The two Big Ten powers share the conference lead with 12-1 marks and will square off this Sunday in Columbus. Wisconsin won the first meeting of the season on January 9 in Madison, pulling out a 72-69 triumph.
Sunday's meeting will mark the first 1 vs. 2 matchup in college basketball since December of 2005, when top-ranked Duke rolled to a 97-66 victory over No. 2 Texas in a neutral-site matchup at the Meadowlands.
Florida (24-3) still picked up four first-place votes to sit third this week, while UCLA (23-3) garnered top support from two voters to move up one spot into fourth.
North Carolina, Kansas, Memphis, Texas A&M, Washington State and Pittsburgh complete the top 10.
The second 10 consists of Nevada, Georgetown, Southern Illinois, Air Force, Butler, Marquette, Vanderbilt, Duke, Texas and Louisville.
Vanderbilt, Duke, Texas and Louisville were among six newcomers to this week's poll. Vandy moved back into the rankings after a one-week absence thanks to an 83-70 home win over Florida, while Duke also made a comeback after falling out of the poll last week. The Blue Devils, who had been ranked for 200 straight polls, beat Boston College and Georgia Tech last week.
Texas has been in and out of the poll most of the season, while Louisville is ranked for the first time this season after picking up wins at Pittsburgh and Marquette last week.
The final five teams in this week's poll are BYU, West Virginia, Oregon, Virginia and Alabama. Oregon dropped eight spots from 15th after losing twice last week.
BYU is ranked for the first time since March of 1993, while Virginia is back in the poll after a brief stay in November.
Southern California, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Boston College, Arizona and Indiana fell out the rankings this week.
In addition to the big Sunday showdown, games involving a pair of ranked teams this week include a Pac-10 battle Thursday between Washington State and Oregon, and a Big East matchup Saturday with Pittsburgh visiting Georgetown.

MySportsbook.com and Kentucky Derby Offer Bonuses
The 2008 Kentucky Derby has announced a $1-million bonus for this weekend’s 134th ‘Run for the Roses’ and MySportsbook.com is doing the same.
Well, not quite $1 million, but MySportsbook.com is offering a 75% rebate for Kentucky Derby lines. Check out the exclusive horse racing bonus for all the details.
According to MySportsbook.com, the favorites for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky are: Curlin (+250); Street Sense (+500); Scat Daddy (+700); Circular Quay (+750); and Nobiz Like Shobiz (+800).
Derby organizers announced this week that there will be a $1-million bonus at the 2007 Kentucky Derby odds if the first-place horse wins by more than 6 1/2 lengths – the margin of Barbaro's victory last year. The bonus would be divided Saturday among the winning trainer, jockey, owner and a charity, with each receiving 25 percent. The designated charity is the Barbaro Memorial Fund.
''It's certainly creative, it's certainly fun and it has something for the horsemen, which we always want to embrace,'' Churchill Downs president and chief executive Robert Evans said at a news conference. ''What's really cool is it will force us to remember Barbaro.''
Meanwhile, the Derby favorite – Curlin – is going against the odds this year. It's been 125 years since Apollo won after skipping his 2-year-old season, and not since Regret in 1915 has such a lightly seasoned horse worn the blanket of red roses.
Arkansas Derby winner Curlin – unbeaten in three career races – tries to overcome both those obstacles in Saturday's 133rd Derby.
''We're not running against history,'' trainer Steve Asmussen said Monday. ''We're running against who they load up.''
Six other horses have run in the Derby without benefit of 2-year-old races and with three or fewer starts. The best any of them managed was a sixth-place finish by Showing Up last year.
Asmussen dismissed suggestions that Curlin's lack of racing experience could keep him from the winner's circle.
”He exudes confidence and he's got a great presence about him,'' the trainer said. ''I feel great about the position we're in. He's not worried about anything, why should you be?''
The Kentucky Derby is at 4:04 p.m., ET Saturday.
