Pacers shoot for 8th straight home win; host Kings

03/30/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Rookie sensation Tyreke Evans is expected to make his return to the hardwood tonight, when the Sacramento Kings resume a five-game road trip against the Indiana Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Evans has missed the last five game after suffering lacerated gums and a concussion in a loss to Milwaukee on March 19, with the Kings going 1-4 over that stretch. Evans leads the Kings and all rookies with 20.2 points per game, and is listed as probable for Tuesday's tilt in Indy. He is trying to become only the fourth player in NBA history to average 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists in his rookie season. The other three are LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Oscar Robertson.

The Evans-less Kings suffered their fourth straight loss and fell to 0-3 on the road trip following Sunday's 97-90 setback against James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. James scored 23 of his game-high 34 points in the second half to burn Sacramento, which got 21 points off the bench from Andres Nocioni. Beno Udrih recorded his first career triple-double with 18 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds, while Carl Landry ended with 17 points for the Kings, who are 7-31 away from home and will also visit Minnesota.

"I don't know if Cleveland was ever thinking they were going to lose that game, but we sure thought that we played as well as we could play under the circumstances," Kings head coach Paul Westphal said. "We were trying to stay close and find a way to pull it out at the end. When LeBron (James) hit that shot from about six or seven feet behind the line with one second on the shot clock, that pretty much took care of things."

The Kings played without centers Spencer Hawes (lower back strain) and Sean May (bruised knee), and forward Francisco Garcia (sore wrist). Hawes is probable for tonight, and both May and Garcia are expected to miss the game.

Indiana will try for its eighth straight win at home when it opens a four-game residency Tuesday versus the Kings, Heat, Rockets and Knicks. A five-game winning streak went by the wayside after a 94-84 loss at Atlanta on Sunday, as Troy Murphy contributed 21 points and 14 rebounds in defeat.

Danny Granger scored 18 points and Brandon Rush netted 14 for the Pacers, who were mathematically eliminated from postseason contention.

"Their athleticism up front always gives us problems," Pacers head coach Jim O'Brien said after losing to the Hawks for a sixth consecutive time. They were quicker to the offensive rebounds, quicker driving by us with Josh Smith and Al Horford. We struggled with them all year."

The Pacers will try to work on their 19-16 home ledger tonight.

Sacramento defeated Indiana, 110-105, back in December at ARCO Arena behind 26 points from Evans. The Kings are trying to sweep the season series with the Pacers for the fifth time in eight attempts.

Pittsburgh earned their passage to the big game by beating their division rival, the Baltimore Ravens, 23-14 in yesterday's AFC Championship Game. The Steelers jumped on Baltimore early, building a 13-0 first half lead, and never let up on their way to a fairly easy win. Although the Ravens did close to within two points in the fourth quarter, it never appeared as if they had enough offense to pull off the upset.

The Steelers dominating defense held Baltimore to a total of 198 yards while allowing them to convert just three third downs in 13 attempts. Pittsburgh also forced quarterback Joe Flacco into three interceptions, one of which safety Troy Polamalu returned fourty yards for a touchdown.

The Cardinals, by far the playoff team with the longest odds to reach Super Bowl XLIII, did so yesterday with a 32-25 upset of the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship. Arizona charged out of the gates and built a 24-6 halftime lead that had the Eagles venerable defense reeling. Quarterback Kurt Warner and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald did most of the damage, connecting on three first half touchdowns.

Arizona, however, could not sustain their momentum and the Eagles took a 25-24 with 10:45 left to play in the fourth. The Cardinals, with the franchise's first Super Bowl appearance hanging in the balance, mounted a fourteen play, 72 yard touchdown drive that consumed 7:52 off the clock. Warner hit running back Tim Hightower on a short screen for the go-ahead, game clinching score that will forever live in Cardinal infamy.

MySportsbook.com's Super Bowl XLIII Betting Odds:

Pittsburgh Steelers -6.5 (-110), Over 46.5 (-110), -260 (Money line)

Arizona Cardinals +6.5 (-110), Under 46.5 (-110), +220 (Money line)

Matt Foust won both of his conference championship plays yesterday and he is ready to serve up plenty of Super Bowl action. Each individual play costs $15.00, however, MySportsbook.com recommends purchasing Matt's NFL Playoff Package which includes all of Matt's Super Bowl props and picks from just $45.00.
